Hello, I’m Alysa.
Over a decade in education, my work is driven by the question, “what does it mean to be free"?” Pursuing this question has given my countless opportunities to practice revolutionary love and radical dreaming. My hope in partnering with your community is not centered around helping your organization seem more “progressive”. Instead, my goal is to help cultivate authentic culture that allows everyone to feel more human, more free and more capable of pursuing radical dreams!
I began my journey in this work as a classroom teacher, learning, laughing and growing alongside high school students in the literature classroom for over ten years. Over the last five years, my work has expanded to include curriculum design, adult learning, strategic planning and instructional coaching, all through an antibias, antiracist and justice centered lens. I have provided consulting services and in-depth professional learning on anti bias and antiracist practices with various international and independent schools and have presented on the work of equitable, liberated learning communities at various conferences around the globe. I combine my own lived experiences as a biracial, multicultural woman and the intentional study of practitioners of abolition and liberation who have come before me to bring an intersectional lens into all that I do.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism and another in Spanish Language and Literature. Additionally, I hold a MS in MultiDisciplinary Studies in Education from the State University of New York, Buffalo. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Education for Social Justice with the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego.
